Make Six Figures As a Personal Trainer and Live a Life You Love

Do six tricks as a personal trainer and have a life

How much do high-end personal trainers earn? Well, when I compare what I earn as a personal trainer to the millions of people on the internet claiming to earn in the fitness industry, I feel like that’s bullshit. For example, I received an automated email from a fitness specialist some time ago, in which he claimed that he was a millionaire and that a friend of his was making over $150,000 a month. I don’t make much more than that per year as a personal trainer, so I know such “success stories” can make you feel like you’re headed down the wrong career path. So why follow a high level training? Why should anyone want to be a personal trainer and only earn 100,000? Well, the answer has nothing to do with money.

Do not mistake yourself; income is important, but there are other things to consider, such as:

– What is your net salary?

– How many hours do you work?

– Do you like your job?

– Where are you going, professionally?

– Are you the kind of person you want to be?

– Does your work fill you or bore you?

These are the factors to consider when deciding how much importance to give to what you earn, because that is what a top coach is. It has nothing to do with income, because when you take all the factors into account, what this profession offers you is much more than what the 100K represents.

It’s not that there’s anything wrong with earning six figures… After all, earning $100,000 has a certain cachet and importance in America.

It signifies belonging to the consumer society. Now you can participate and enjoy what people call the American dream and way of life. When you think about it, our entire consumer and marketing society is all about those six-figure earnings. For instance:

– You can afford payments on a Mercedes Benz.

– You can save enough to buy a house.

– You can afford to build a high fashion wardrobe.

– You can take vacations at domestic and overseas resorts.

– You can afford to set aside about 10% of your income each year.

Is all this superficial? Yeah, but if you can’t have or do those things, you’re going to feel left out, like you’re one of the uncool kids who can’t join the party. But consider the price of admission to this party. We have the impression that it will take millions of dollars to lead a comfortable and attractive life. So we end up working for years

in the end and sacrificing the best years of lives and countless other things to get the kind of life we want, but end up wasting a lot of it on the quest. What we fail to realize is that a simple six figure revenue plan would have gotten us there! I remember when I hit that level of income. There’s a certain sense of entitlement that comes with it – as if the curtain has been drawn and a new world awaits you.

Keep in mind that less than 10% of people in our society make 100K. When you consider the type of work personal training entails and the fact that training rates are so high, I think it has to be the best and easiest career to earn a six-figure salary. By simple, I mean you can earn it just by training customers. You don’t need to sell e-books, vitamins, books or balance boards, record videos or open a small workout studio. You can do this by training lucrative customers, period.

If you’re not earning that much as a coach yet, you’re probably not thinking about what you’re doing right. I don’t know where or when being a personal trainer got a bad rap in the fitness industry, but I think the reason is that it’s usually been associated with being part of a major health club, not independent coaches who want to create a stable practice. That’s why you hear a lot of people who get into fitness for whatever reason talk disparagingly about working out. They want to skip the step of being a personal trainer. They are the ones who want to have a gym or be a physical trainer for a major sports team.

There’s nothing wrong with that; Achieving a leadership position in this area is a big goal. And being a top coach can give you those opportunities. It becomes very easy to shape your future when you earn between 75 and 100,000 in about 25 hours a week. Even if you are a student working towards your degree in sports science, earning a good income in this field will drive your career curve up. After all, what makes the most sense to you? Do you work part-time and do an unrelated task during your studies or are you already successful in the field you are studying for? And keep in mind that you can apply everything you learn in school to your clients.

The high performance coaching lifestyle has given me the time to do and learn things that I would never have been able to do otherwise. Professionally, I learned to be an effective writer, made many lucrative relationships, wrote for major educational magazines, and spoke at major conferences. Personally, it gave me the type of high-profile lifestyle that I thought was reserved for drug dealers or trust fund brats. Another group hitting the six-figure salary are coaches who think they already earn it. But when we talk about six figures, there are a lot of things we don’t talk about. I don’t mean that you:

– made 150K sales in your training department last year, of which you only kept a small commission.

– worked 60 hours training children and old ladies (not that there’s anything wrong with that but it’s not for everyone).

– you “own” a gym. I earn more than any private gym owner I’ve ever met. They all had business partners so were just minority owners in their gyms, had tons of expenses, and worked at least 60 hours a week. They didn’t own the gymnasium, the gymnasium owned them.

Also, I don’t care if you own a training center, because after paying all your employees, expenses and advertising costs, you’re very lucky and smart if you make over 100,000 – and, again , you probably work long hours to do it. No, when I say six figures, I really mean a six figure take home pay. How is it possible ? It’s because in our economy, government loves entrepreneurs. It’s the people who make the whole economy possible in the first place.

Remember that when you’re a personal trainer, you’re technically a small business, even if you don’t have any employees or only have 10 regular clients. If you form an S-corp as a small business, you can claim a large portion of your expenses as tax deductible. And tax documents for S-Corps are not very controlled – that’s the advantage of living in a capitalist country. America loves and cultivates entrepreneurs.

There are other benefits to consider, such as the fitness lifestyle. Did you know that most fitness conferences are held in Vegas and Miami? This means that your hotel, airfare, and event admission are all tax deductible, as are your training certifications, gym memberships, and exercise classes. So how do you arrive at that six-figure salary? It all comes down to two things: running expensive trainings and finding and keeping a dozen clients who can afford to pay for them. It’s that simple.

The ball is in your court. Chase him.
